Offshore Pelagic Trip 10/03/2022 (approx. 24 hours)

We will explore the deep offshore waters up to and possibly beyond the edge of the Continental Shelf and the Hudson Canyon waters. This ultra-deep trip coincides with pelagic migration.

There is a good chance for a variety of species including Cory’s, Great, Manx, and Audubon’s Shearwaters, Black-capped Petrel, White-faced, Band-rumped, Leach’s, and Wilson’s Storm-Petrels, and Red-necked Phalaropes. Rarities we’ve found in our region in summer include Trindade (formerly Herald) and Fea’s Petrel, Masked Booby, and South Polar Skua and a very rare Bermuda Petrel was found off NJ at the end of August. All of these are still possible. A later trip should provide a better chance than a summer trip for Arctic Tern, all 3 jaegers, and possibly Sabine’s Gull.

Deep water cetaceans are also possible like Cuvier’s Beaked Whale, several species of Mesoplodon Beaked Whale, Atlantic Spotted, Offshore Bottlenose, Striped, Common, and Risso’s Dolphin, and Pilot Whale. Fin, Humpback, and Minke Whales are possible though more likely in shallower water. Sowerby’s Beaked Whale was well photographed on our trip in August.

This trip is approximately 24-hours. Capacity is limited. Reservations are required.

Boarding begins at 8:00 PM on Sunday evening, October 2nd.  Passengers will board in the order in which their booking was received.

After checking in, passengers will board one at a time and be able to choose a location on the boat for their belongings and an area to sleep, etc. (example one side of each table).

After your reservation is booked, we will send a trip disclaimer that will need to be signed and sent back as acknowledgment and agreement.
